The Bexley Skills Charter formally went live on 18 January 2017, taking place alongside the launch of the 2017 Bexley Business Excellence Awards at the Thames Innovation Centre.
The Skills Charter aims to facilitate conversation and action between organisations in Bexley including:
- Learning and education providers
- Information, advice and guidance providers
- Support services
The aim of these conversations will be to help the borough become a thriving and ambitious place of opportunity from education to employment through the achievement of 4 key objectives:
- A learning offer fit for the future
- A skilled workforce for strong and sustainable growth
- A thriving business and enterprise environment
- A culture of continuous learning and development

The first signers of our Charter Board were the Leader of the Council, Councillor Teresa O’Neill OBE and Council Chief Executive, Gill Steward.

First to sign the Charter Board on launch night was Dave White, Managing Director of ITRM Ltd – our 2017 Charter Champions.
ITRM Ltd were selected as 2017 Charter Champions following their success at the 2016 Bexley Business Excellence Awards, which demonstrated how their business already supports the Skills Charter objectives.

Dave also received the Skills Charter Champion certificate from Jane Richardson, Assistant Chief Executive for Regeneration and Growth at the London Borough of Bexley.
By the end of the launch night 30 businesses signed-up to support the principles of the Skills Charter .
